David Tank is an author and photographer living near Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He operates Planert Creek Press, an independent book publisher. David specializes in historic and 3D photography and is an award-winning member of the National Stereoscopic Association. Before devoting his time to writing, photography and publishing, David Tank taught writing and mass communication at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Prior to becoming a teacher, he was a newspaper and magazine editor, worked as senior writer for a major fraternal organization and directed the communication efforts of several not-for-profit organizations. David's cozy mystery series began with The Secret of Blackbird Cabin (2024), followed by The Secrets of Foxglove Lodge (2025) David's popular Postcards from the Past series combine his interests in history and photography. The discovery of an intriquing, century-old stereocard led to the Secret Santa series of middle-grade novels, which follows the time-traveling adventures of 11-year-old Sam, his 7-year-old sister Abby, and their friend Nick. His life-long interest in 3-D photography led to the publication of "Wisconsin Wildflowers in 3D" and "The Magic of 3D Photography." He is an award-winning member of the National Stereoscopic Association and a collector of vintage stereoscopes and 3D cameras. David wrote his first book, "River of Hope: My Journey with Kathy in Search of Healing from Lou Gehrig’s Disease," after his wife, Kathy, passed away in 2007 while battling ALS. His goal was to help others in similar situations discover the likely causes of the disease and recognize that there is hope outside of the established medical system. The author is also an accomplished musician and songwriter. A music video of his song, "Hope is Like a River," written to accompany an audiobook edition of "River of Hope," can be viewed at YouTube.com.
